Are weight loss meal plans your weight loss solution? They can be a huge help with losing weight and keeping it off. Eating sensibly is one of the best weight loss solutions you’ll ever hear. You can even design your own meal plan and eat what you want to as long as you don’t go over the limits you’ve set for yourself.

A meal plan also stops that nagging question of “What am I going to have to eat today?” because all you have to do is look at your plan and you’ll know. It’s also possible to switch days around when you make your own meal plan. If it’s tuesday and you don’t want fish, have Fridays turkey tacos instead.

One of the best things about designing your own meal plan for weight loss is the fact that you won’t put anything on it you don’t like. On the other hand if you get a plan somewhere else it more than likely will have foods on it that you don’t like. It may be perfectly written, a perfectly balanced diet but if you don’t like some of it and don’t eat it, it’s no longer a balanced diet. That’s the thing I like best about designing my own.

You need to set a goal for your weight loss program. Why? Because it will help you stay with your meal plan and inspire you to do the things you need to do to lose the with you want to lose. Try a set a daily, weekly and monthly goal but please be sure the goals are within reason and reachable. It does no good to set goals so high no one can reach them.

Exercise is the next thing you want to take a look at. Yes, I know, no one really wants to exercise but it will help with your weight loss. You do want to lose that body fat don’t you? Okay, then get some exercise. It will boost your metabolism and help you reach your goal weight that much faster.

You can use the internet and look online for inspiration when you are designing your plan. You’ll also be able to find ready made plans that can help you but as I said above, be sure you like the food on those plans. If you don’t it’s just as easy to make your own than it is to try and endlessly modify what you find online. You can also find a lot of tasty yet low calorie recipes online.

When I designed my weight loss diet plan I used th old food pyramid and took the required number of items from each group. I don’t like seafood or pasta so there’s hardly any ready made plan that works for me. I’m a picky eater and if you are too, designing your own personal plan for meals is the best idea.


Make sure you get some protein whether it be meat or beans or other sources of protein. Make sure you also add enough fruit and fiber to your list. I also used sugar free canned fruit as a dessert so it did it’s job in two ways.

The biggest problem I had was with snacks. You can only eat so much celery and so many radishes. Carrot sticks were good too, for a short time. Popcorn also gets old real fast when it’s almost daily. I ate a lot of grapes, strawberries and raspberries too. Pick what you like, but, once again, make sure it’s within the guidelines you laid out for your diet plan.
