Parkinson’s disease – dealing with speech problems

Those with Parkinson’s are likely to develop several physical disabilities including speech problems.

In fact, speech issues are one of the common Parkinson’s disease symptoms.

If the patient has problems with speaking such as using a very low volume for speech and speaking in a monotone, he or she might find it useful to undergo speech therapy. When combined with other medications, speech practice under a trained therapist can go a long way towards helping the patient lead a near-normal life.

Those with symptoms of Parkinsons often find that they are tired all the time. Despite that, they often find it difficult to get enough restorative sleep.

In such cases, it may be necessary to take a few short naps during the day to compensate for lost sleep at night. A couple of brief naps can help the patient feel less fatigued and also less concerned about her inability to sleep well at night.
